We are currently the only pub in Barnard Castle in ‘The Good Beer Guide’, to have won many accolades ! Winner of Teesdale Pub of the season in 2011, 2012, 2014 & 2015. We are well known for our wide range of cask ales and extensive wine list.

New Winter menu – a delicious mix of popular cuisines that we keep changing regularly. Predominantly British, you will find Italian, Indian , Thai and food from other parts of the globe. Sunday Roasts are ever popular – with many comments being ‘the best Sunday Roast they have ever had !’ Not forgetting our delectable dessert counter!

There’s a comfortable lounge, a quiet restaurant, a beer garden with gorgeous views and the castle wall as well as a bright and warm conservatory with a coffee bar. We also offer excellent facilities for business meetings or training sessions, with a private meeting room and wireless internet access.

PALE ALE

Pale ale is one of the world’s most popular beer styles. It’s made with the use of pale malt.

It’s a very old style beer, whose history dates back to unhopped ales.

The Old Well Inn  features in ‘The Good Beer Guide’ and has done since 2011. Unlike other beer quality awards this is solely based upon CAMRA members votes. It is something that can’t be bought!

We have also has been voted 1st in the Darlington branch of CAMRAs pub of the season competition 2011,2012,2014 and are delighted to be the reigning champions 2015!
